Alright, I'll concede that a 1 AM half-cocked walk through Times Square badly badly badly out-urbans Vancouver. Especially when its -15 celsius and you're listening to Mogwai's 'Stop Coming to my House' on repeat. But NYC is still lacking the vancity per capita glass and ocean immediacy... I've now hit Shanghai and New York inside 30 days...NYC has got the verticality, but Shanghai has the bustle.
