Holy Christ

Wow...the Vatican issued their big decree today that gay marriage is against "natural moral law" (whatever the fuck that is) and sent out a message to any politician that backs such reforms: "To vote in favor of a law so harmful to the common good is gravely immoral". Even an idiotic bishop in Canada warned the Prime Minister that he was risking his "eternal salvation" by allowing legal recognition of gay marriage.
Fuck I've had it with these guys. Until they drop the anti-gay kick, until they allow birth control in the developing world and until they can prove that a substantial percentage of their priests are not paedophiles, I say its time to discriminate against Catholics. They've been dishing it out for a thousand years or so, maybe its time to turn the tables! Grrr. (I'll probably retract this post later)

The Life

I think everyone secretly wishes they were Larry David...extremely wealthy, Southern California, no responsibility, gettin in and out of trouble with impunity. God damn that would be fun.

Another Reason to Move to China

Check the 5th paragraph...bizarre.

Facing the Consequences

Bush's approval ratings cratering, US soldiers dying daily in a guerilla war, international partners unwilling to send troops, zero WMD's found, Sunnis and Shiites rising up alike, troop morale falling...Now its your choice America: Save some GI's by walking away from a country whose infrastructure you destroyed 3 months ago OR stick it out and try and bring something positive out of this calamity.
I don't see how Bush can win. If he pulls the boys out, then America becomes the ultimate rogue state, wrecking a country, securing its oil, then abondoning its people. If he leaves the boys in there, then he will surely suffer further in the domestic polls. Especially, since he's not exactly lighting it up on the economic policy front. Total fuckin mess.
This NY Times article draws some parrallels between the terrible British experience in Iraq in the first half of the 20th Century and America's dilemma today.

Another Chance

Rumours afoot that My Bloody will be releasing 5 unreleased tracks from the Glider EP era. Slated for Winter 04. Apparantly Glider was supposed to be a 9 song album, but the band moved on to working on Loveless before finishing up the other 5 songs. Glider was easily one of the best EP's of the decade.

Find and Listen to this Song

Ulrich Schnauss "Make Sense and Loose" (by I'm Not a Gun) Remix. I defy anyone to find a better keyboard composition than this track. More melodies in this one song than most bands' whole catalogues. Released in May 03. Reverb junkies will trip.

Waves and Waves of Nostalgia

"Thoughts from above hurt the people down below, people in this world we have no place to go/ Oh its the last, oh its the last time/Oh I've never met anyone quite like you before, oh no I've never met anyone quite like you before."

If you want to pull out a map, I'm in Smithers, BC right now looking across the street at a lake, mountain and glacier. Nature has never been my thing, but I have to admit there are some pretty awe-inspiring joints up here. I can't imagine there are many spots in the world that have more "life" than Northern BC...seems infinite.

so much for that

For those who don't already know, Ms. T's burned down on thursday. Some idiot started a fire when they tried to make popcorn at 9am in the morning. Yep, that's right! popcorn at 9am. how idiotic is that? anyways, the 2 Explaining Colours shows that were planned for this summer have been postponed indefinitely.
