Jean-Paul Cube

God damn rap has delivered some potent ideas
Prescription to global inequality:
"I wanna make a super-virus strong enough to cause blackouts in every single metropolis
Cause they don't want to unify us, so fuck it, total anarchy and can't nobody stop us"

- Del "Virus"
Addressing the spiritual and ideological vacuum of the last decade:
"You've got to believe in something, why not believe in me
Cause I'm a motherfuckin G, god damn I'm a motherfuckin G"

- Ice Cube "Really Doe"

Unimproved

The World Summit on Sustainable Development gets underway in South Africa this week. But looking back over the 10 years since the last summit of this kind, in Rio, there is clear evidence of bad faith by the OECD, G8, 'West', 'North' or whatever you want to call us.
"Since the Rio conference, the number of people in the developing world living on less than $1 a day has not changed, despite the adoption of free-market policies promoted by the United States and such international lenders as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Opening their markets, poor countries have slashed agricultural subsidies while Europe, the United States and Japan spend $300 billion annually on them -- roughly six times the amount they spend on foreign aid to poor nations."
If world trade is inevitable, then it HAS to go both ways to be beneficial to the other 85% of the world.
More about this fucked up legacy of the 90's here.

New Stuff

New MP3
Updated sounds section. We've been wanting to experiment with covering an electronic song for some time. Here's the result: A 4-track version of Bochum Welt's Star Cluster, completed last week. Also, you can now download and listen to some clips of the Interview we did with Canadian radio station CHSR 97.9. Check it here.

Sally Cinnamon

Was treated to a pint of Harp and some Sally Cinnamon last night courtesy of Morrisseys Pub. A combination that will put a smile on my face every time. God bless the Stone Roses.

Herring

Really impressed seeing mum live tonight. Lots of subtle melodies seamlessly arranged into these sort of off-kilter rhythemed glitchy epics. Wide assortment of instruments and flawless singing. Pimp percussion, both live and sequenced.
The joint was packed...from the looks of it, Iceland is still in the house.

Thank you, Prince

A serious blow to the hawks hell bent on bombing the people of Iraq:
"(AP) - Saudi Arabia has made clear to Washington — publicly and privately — that the U.S. military will not be allowed to use the kingdom's soil in any way for an attack on Iraq, Foreign Minister Prince Saud said Wednesday."
