 Canada Alone
Just watched The Last Just Man for the second time. If you ever get the chance, try and see it. It is a documentary about Canada's heroic but largely futile efforts to stop the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. Futile only because the UN didn't take heed, and because the US specifically blocked any intervening action. Fucking ill. The nations of Europe and the US are wearing a lot of blame for not stopping something that could have been stopped. 800,000 dead in 100 days. But we got to give credit where credit is due. Rosco Magazine is in a class of its own for music journalism in Canada. PLUS we're on the compliation shipping with their next issue. To reiterate: We got dough from MTV's Real World recently. No one in Readymade authorized that spin. We did an interview last night with CHSR 97.9 (University of New Brunswick). It's airing tonight around 10:30pm Atlantic time. They have a shoutcast server which streams the live broadcast here. The 15 nations of the European Union ratified the Kyoto treaty on greenhouse gas emissions yesterday. Of course, the US pulled out of the treaty to protect its polluting industries and have instead have proposed a plan where companies can voluntarily reduce emissions. Thanks. So the Kyoto treaty has no teeth, but will at least become binding among the signees if Canada, Russia and Japan sign on.
