Past Its Prime Went to this big protest on Saturday. In Vancouver, against government cuts. There was A LOT of folk music coming from the podium. Was thinkin...would you dress up in goth to rebel against your parents? hell no! because that aesthetic has been assimilated and done to death. Same thing goes for folk music. Seems so regressive in a way. Capitalism has no problem co-opting more avant garde art forms to sell itself, the politically radical might want to think about doing the same. Fighting globalization with a pre-globalization medium just seems really lacking. A movement should use the tools of its time; would help get the attention of more people, especially the youth. Fuck nostalgia.
